DevOps Engineer

Overall objective/Purpose of position

The DevOps Engineer is a key enabler of fast, reliable, and secure software delivery. Working as an integral member of the DevOps team, the role collaborates closely with the Product Owner DevOps and the DevOps Lead Engineer to deliver the roadmap and continuously improve platform capabilities. The DevOps Engineer focuses on building, operating, and enhancing CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and platform services. In close partnership with product and engineering teams, the role helps reduce lead time, lower failure rates, and provide a scalable, secure, and high-quality developer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate CI/CD pipelines and platform services (e.g. container platforms, artifact repositories, secrets, and environments) with a strong automation-first mindset.
• Infrastructure as Code: Implement and maintain cloud infrastructure (e.g. Azure) using Terraform or comparable tools.
• Reliability & Operations: Participate in incident response, post-mortems, and root cause analyses; actively contribute to reducing MTTR.
• Observability & Monitoring: Build and continuously improve monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions.
• Security by Design: Embed security and compliance controls into pipelines (e.g. secrets management, vulnerability scanning, policy-as-code).
• Developer Enablement: Create and maintain templates, golden paths, and self-service capabilities to reduce lead time and cognitive load for development teams.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the Product Owner DevOps, DevOps Lead Engineer, and software/platform teams to deliver the DevOps roadmap.
• Continuous Improvement: Drive improvements through metrics, automation, experimentation, and data-informed optimization.

Competencies/Skills for position

• Strong knowledge of modern frontend technologies (e.g. Javascript, Node.js, Vue.js, Nuxt, GraphQL), experienced in Python, Ruby or Bash scripting
• Experience with content delivery networks (e.g. Akamai), with CI/CD (e.g. GitLab), containers & Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), and cloud platforms (Azure).
• In-depth understanding of DNS management and general networking principles.
• Ability to work in an Agile/DevOps environment, promoting collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Solid understanding of reliability and observability concepts (monitoring, alerting, SLOs).
• Strong automation and quality mindset.
