The role directs two developers/analysts, two operations/support staff and an IT intern. The IT Manager will balance two demands: Keeping today's systems running (support tickets, software bugs, maintenance, and security); and moving the agency's priority projects forward, ultimately delivering required IT services to internal staff and other stakeholders.

The IT Manager is a hands-on technical leader and a people leader. They set clear expectations, keep work visible, hold staff accountable for results and timelines, and projects as priorities change. They are also the Technology Director's trusted advisor. Staff Performance

- Mentor staff and support their skill development.

Operational Leadership

- Oversee day-to-day IT operations, including systems administration, help desk response, and application support.
- Ensure tickets are triaged, prioritized, and resolved in a transparent way that is tied to performance metrics.
- Maintain system availability and security consistent with agency performance goals, and coordinate maintenance, monitoring, and upgrades to minimize disruption.

Application Support and Development Oversight

- Oversee support, bug resolution, and maintenance for key business applications.
- Work with developers to plan, test, and deploy new development and enhancements while protecting production stability.
- Contribute technically, including architecture and code review, as needed.

Infrastructure and Security

- Ensure infrastructure and security planning and maintenance follow best practices, including backup and disaster recovery readiness.
- Review access controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance.
- Stay aware of the compliance requirements that apply to cloud and hosted services, and bring them to attention of the Technology Director.
- Maintain disaster recovery readiness

Reporting and Executive Communication

- Advise the Technology Director on the status of priorities, staff capacity, and risks.
- Promptly communicate issues that affect the agency and require the Technology Director or executive attention, with clear options and recommendations.
- Explain technical issues and trade-offs clearly to non-technical audiences.

Vendor and Partner Coordination

- Collaborate with external partners (for example State DTS, security providers, and consultants) to ensure seamless integration and support.
